Happy Easter & Happy Pesach
Despite the long weekend ahead of us, we only have our regular Saturday and Sunday Road Club rides planned for you however, those of you who would like to get a cycle in on Friday are welcome to join Jos Bretherick at Cradle Moon. She will be doing an open water swim starting at 06h30 followed by a cycle.
The non-swimmers can meet her at the entrance to CM at 07h40. You can either park at CM or at Valverde and then cycle to CM. There is a R50 conservatory charge for CM.
Northern Farm is open on both Friday and Monday – remember Club100 members get free entry to Northern Farm Bike Park – all you need is your membership card and to be in club kit.
Our MTB’er have a full weekend of cycling planned for you. See details under “Weekend Rides”
The Two Oceans Marathon is happening this weekend in Cape Town. We have a number of members taking part and we would like to wish them Good Luck & Travel Safely.
Kick Your DOMS For Good
Delayed onset muscle soreness messes up our workout schedules and hurts like hell—but proper nutrition, training, and recovery can help you fend off this post-ride annoyance and have more fun.
It’s the day after you sprinted a few extra hill repeats, survived a long-overdue squat session, or finally got back into your cycling routine, and your muscles feel like they are made of rocks lodged between your bones. You can thank a condition called DOMS for that.
Developing muscle soreness after a hard ride is normal – even if it shows up a day or two after you’ve stopped pedalling. The simplified explanation for your shuffling steps and groan-filled movement is that DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) is a symptom of exercise-induced muscle damage, and a sign that your body is experiencing inflammation – a necessary part of recovery involving cellular repair, which lessens as we adapt to exercise.
There are however ways to minimise muscle soreness post-ride. Click here to see what you can do pre-ride, on the road, post ride to prevent DOMS
